Re: my sons computer gets a virus....
I suggest punishing him for misuse of the PC. Start off with time out equal to double the time it cost you to fix it, then move up to grounding until you reach the point where you have no other choice...
Then let the beatings begin!
You can not protect any computer on the web from an ignorant user.
Turn off his network connection except when supervised if needed.

Ya a system restore has worked for me before. If I were you I would move files you CAN NOT loose to a CD (finalize it so it cant be modified), then reformat your hard drive. Put the CD in and check to make sure no traces of the virus remain on any of the files. If it still remains reformat agian and put the CD in a microwave.

Re: my sons computer gets a virus....
Well, I'll share this about Tankers browsing habits, he is very good about not surfing pron on his computer. I frequently and without warning have checked his browsing history, which can only be accessed by an administrator, and hes been good. He did have limewire installed a while back but i made him take that off because of the risk of viruses.
I know very little about the workings of windows mainly because since 3.1 i have never had an issue. No viruses, no massive crashes, no serious malware that i couldn't remove with some freeware from Kim Komando, and the times that has happened you can count those on one hand.
I might try to save it when i have some time to work on it. Perhaps one of you wizards could get with me on X, TS or Skype and walk me through an attempt to get around this thing sometime?
