Really sad, that we let our troops down and did not support their mission.

    Makes me angry.

They were more worried about killing a terrorist supporter, that they can call a civilian, than protecting our fighting troops.

That is a pretty broad generalization though, not all civilians are 'terrorist supporters'.

I do think if it says on the patrol order that you have something though, it should damn well be there for you to utilize.

Hate to say it, but I shed more tears for civilian casualties than I do for troops. Civilian casualties are sadly unavoidable, but troops sign up for the duty knowing full well that it's dangerous work. Just because civilians are 'locals' doesn't make them less human. If this shit was happening in the USA and civilian casualties were possible, I bet some of you'd be singing a different tune.

The failing is not in trying to avoid civilian deaths, but in having the CAS nowhere near where they were promised to be. Sounds like a problem with logistics, as Hawg was expressing. I'd like to hear what the explanation for this fuck up is.

It won't be good enough to explain 13 deaths, and more wounded, that's for sure.

I understand what you're saying, but if it comes time to choose between US marines and Afghan civiliians, I am choosing US marines 20 times outta 10.

Thankfully, US marines don't operate that way.

Yeah, well, all I'm saying is this. If calling in an arty strike will save the lives of our marines but possibly (not definitely) have afghan civillian casualties, then I send the strike. just my opinion
