Annoying College Teacher

Let's get something straight, I don't neccessarily hate an teachers, but this one in particular is pissing me off. When class first started she noticed I and a few others would sometimes daze off or semi fall asleep. Now that's understandable, got a job, homework, chores, etc, you're bound to fall asleep listening to someone talk for an hour about something that's as easy as basic math.

But here's the deal, I DIDN'T fall asleep these last two days of class. I simply had my head in my hand, the typical pose of someone who's bored and wish he had something productive to do. But instead I was stuck ther listening to someone teach C++ programming, which surprisingly enough, is easy for me.

No different than Java or Dark Basic, once you learn the basics of programming all you need to worry about is the reserved words that are semi different for each language.

But anyway back to what I was saying, this woman excused me from clas twice in two days. She apparently thinks that I'm sleeping in class with my eyes wide awake and looking at the whiteboard. Here's my problem, if I get excused again, I'm out of the class, she'll kick me out and say I failed the class. IF I'M STILL AWAKE WITH MY EYES WIDE OPEN, MAYBE I'M NOT SLEEPIONG BUT BORED OUT OF MY FUCKING MIND!!!! Shut up and just give me work to do, I'll learn a hell of a lot more doing work than listening to her blab for a whole fucking hour.

Yeah, I'm pissed, 128$ could go down the drain because this woman is so damn picky. If someone sleeps, let them sleep, if they're bored, let them be bored, let them fail themselves, that's not her obligation. I won't let her fail me over something this stupid.

You know, when I tutor an entire class on physics, I kick the people out who look like they don't give a flying fuck about me taking time out of my schedule to teach them. It's just rude. I understand people who sleep, but if you're going to act like a superior jack ass in my class when the other students are concerned about paying attention and learning, I'm not going to tolerate you. If you don't care, I don't care, and I'm sure as hell not going to help those types of people when they come in before tests and finals going, "Please help me! I need to pass this test." I just go, "Well, then maybe you've should've paid attention in class."

Same thing with people listening to music, surfing the web, talking to each other not about what I'm teaching, etc.

Have you tried talking to her? Apologizing for sleeping that first time or whatever and saying that you'd wish she'd have noticed you making an effort to be more alert these last few days? Asking her (politely) that she not punish you repeatedly for something that is no longer an issue?

Yes, you may feel she is in the wrong, but if it'll save the class and the money, I'd say try it. If truly all your doing is staring at the board, not checking your phone or anything else rude, I'd say she might reconsider.

But the thing is I know how to do the work, I've proved that already. And I'm not sleeping at all, I'm just sitting there.

Yes I have, I told her I wouldn't close my eyes or do anything that looked like sleeping. But she still kicked me out today, my eyes were wide open. I just don't understand how I'm causing her any trouble at all. I'm not bothering anyone, everyone else is either doing problems in the book or trying to listen to her like I am. They just happen to have had some caffeine this morning.

Then, if you aren't being a dick, talk to her like Xoria said. If she's just being a bitch, talk to your adviser about what to do.

Seriously, no teacher can mandate that you look all smiley and happy to be there. If you're awake, and doing the work, even participating..she won't have a leg to stand on. That being said, many teachers include participation as part of the grade, to fight against the folks who know the material and say, skip class until the tests or whatnot, so make sure you're at least participating on a basic level.

Ya I think you have a case if the teacher kicks you out of class. If you can prove you know the material you shouldnt be able to be kicked out. You pay to be tought, if your learning the stuff they cant bitch at you.

C++ is rather easy once you know the basics of programming, otherwise you're screwed.

Well, it's not College, but I have this Honors English teacher who is the worst, and most confusing teacher ever. I mean, one second we're on one thing, then we have an essay due, then we're reading, then we're supposed to know everything about prefixes...

I mean, come the fuck on. Stop being weird.
