Obama National Debt
In an 8 year term with the Bush Administration, our debt was about 1.3 trillion and that was with a democrat controlled congress.
With the new Obama Administration, our debt is now about 4.5 trillion and growing and half of his term is not even over.
Do you approve/support this?
Also, why do you support or disapprove of this?
Modified to reflect the debt, and not just what the Bush Administration actually spent.

Re: Obama National Debt
Where in the world are you getting that 500 billion figure? The government slice of the debt was somewhere in the 1.3 trillion range at the beginning of the decade. (http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget...ssets/hist.pdf, Section 7 for Federal Debt.)
I don't care if you want to debate numbers or whatever, as everybody seems to care about these massive numbers more than is appropriate, but at least bring the actual numbers unless you have some sort of clarification for that 500 billion concept?
I don't exactly like a national debt, but we produce and export so little compared to a decade or three ago it's not shocking we have a debt. Times have changed and so have our needs and priorities. It's not like those wars we've been fighting, no matter how well intended the combat has been, were paid for out of pocket.

Hey ho, regardless of what I think on the topic, starting a poll with your choice CAPITALIZED and first is a bit much; not to mention no sources...

I'm sick and tired of hearing "no no no, pass NOTHING do NOTHING" without anything constructive as a counterpoint. I'm also sick of the Democrats cockblocking any reasonable discussion on the subject while simultaneously saying they're doing all this "bipartisan" negotiating. Fuck everyone in the captial, seriously. Bunch of pansies.
I'd rather see cost savings come into play to counterbalance the "evil socialist policies" and wars and other initiatives we're spending money on at the federal level rather than stopping everything we're doing in its tracks. The amount of waste spending and corruption in the government is only made worse by the way that Congress is bought and paid for by corporate and special interests lobbyists.
Bah. I wish it were even possible to have a discussion on the topic without it descending into arguing over fact versus fiction with some folks (not you, Commander, but some of the psychos you see in the news). And maybe I'm a little too worked up on the subject. I need a beer.
Oh, and by no means do I claim to have any answers. I'm lucky I can balance my checkbook... wait, no I can't, that's why my wife does it.

I am sick of taxes.... Sick of wasteful spending.... and sick of the government invading into the private sectors. I am totally against socialism and destroying the middle class.
