I personally find it all silly.

I had a really old friend get offended by the discussion in that very video. I told him that allowing the word to have such negative power over the black race just perpetuates hatred and racism. I believe he is a black muslim so he was severely offended. I can only figure that .. since I am white of primarly European decent, in a generation that has never seen any racism against whites -- I cannot see it the same way others may see it.

Can call me every racist name in the book, and none of them have any meaning.

And it's one in the same. The swastika is used in many many cultures. But it's all been ruined my Nazi history. YES if their flag was a smiley face, the exact same thing would exist. People would be very offended or ashamed by the smiley face.

But, god forbid it ever happens again -- if there is ever another totalitarian nation bent on world domination -- let us hope that their symbol is an obese woman in a bikini -- cause that definitely needs to be banned

The swastika was around before all of that ever happened. What if Hitler decided he wanted the symbol of his empire to be a pencil, would we ban all pencils? What if the symbol was just a smiley face? Would we not be allowed to use "

"? It's the same as your mom getting upset when you swear around her, you may think, "Why, it's just a word..." And that's all it is.

The point is...that's what he used. If you expect people to get over it that quick, you're a bit naive. As I said, you can't erase 70+ years of history, just like that.
