    Soccer Season discussions

Okay, i cannot find my old thread, so if someone else can i'll merge these. Untill then, any thoughts on the current season?

Liverpool has been shit so far, so hooray to that! City appears to be slowing down, good news for Arsenal. Umm in France Montpellier (sp?) is doing pretty damn good so far, which is pretty shocking.

Oh and on the International scene, the Euro zone playoffs have been drawn, these are the games that will be played on November 14th and 16th:

    Ireland v. France
    Russia v. Slovenia
    Greece v. Ukraine
    Portugal v. Bosnia

I hoping to see France, Russia, Ukraine and Bosnia all make it through. The WC draw is going to be on December 4th i believe. Here who is in (world ranking):

    Brazil (1)
    Spain (2)
    Netherlands (3)
    Italy (4)
    Germany (5)
    Argentina (6)
    England (7)
    United States (11)
    Switzerland (13)
    Chile (17)
    Mexico (18)
    Ivory Coast (19)
    Serbia (20)
    Paraguay (21)
    Australia (24)
    Denmark (27)
    Slovakia (33)
    Honduras (35)
    Ghana (38)
    Japan (40)
    South Korea (48)
    South Africa (85)
    North Korea (91)

Question being do you think the U.S.A. can get one of the 8 top seed spots?

South Africa takes one of the top 8 seeded spots. After them i think Brazil, Spain, Netherlands, Italy, England, and Germany have to be seeded. The last spot IMO would go to the French if they qualify, if not i think it should go to Team U.S.A.

My last thing in this post, my EPL all-star team through the season so far (being players i'd want if i was creating an EPL team based just on this years stats).

    GKs: Given, Friedel
    LBs: A. Cole, Baines
    DCs: Vermaelen, Collins, Turner, Gallas
    RB: G. Johnson, Mears
CM: Cesc, Gerrard, M. Taylor, Lampard
    WGs: Giggs, Lennon, Milner, Yossi
    ST: Bent, Drogba, Torres, Rooney

(probably not as good as it could be, was tougher then i thought it would be) of them the start XI and subs

    GK: Given
    LB: A. Cole
    DC: Vermaelen
    DC: Collins
    CM: Cesc
    CM: Lampard
    AMR: Lennon
    AMC: Gerrard
    AML: Giggs
    FC: Drogba
Subs: Bent, M. Taylor, Torres, Turner, Baines, Rooney, Friedel

    France
    Russia
    Greece v. Ukraine (Who cares)
    Portugal

Arsenal are the best looking team in the premier league and that is my honest opinion, regardless of them being my club.

I hope Real give Barca a good run for their money and I can wait for the group stages to continue this week in the CL.

Arsenal is my team as well, but i would be more sold on them if they could shore up some of the defensive vulnerabilities.

Granted i'm (again bias), but the team thats pissing me off in Man United, their luck REALLY has to run dry soon, they haven't been that good yet manage to get lucky and win again and again.

Chelsea would have been my pick to win it all (i know i know) a few weeks ago (non-bias pick), but losing to Wigan and Villa. They were worn out in the Villa game, and the Wigan game, imo, was just lack of discipline. If they are getting worn out in games in OCTOBER, no way can it be said they'll win it all.

United 'til I die, United 'til I die, I know I am. I'm sure I am, United 'til I die.

Sadly I must agree with you, we are on a good luck streak and not a solid talent streak as I would prefer to see my club with. They haven't been preforming at the level that they used to, Rooney however has really been stepping up though and being the star striker we all know and love

Its just a matter of time until Utd drop some points. No more Ronadlo=no more silverware.
He bailed them out countless times last season and there isn't anyone there to pick up his slack. Rooney is not gonna give them that many goals. Their best bet is with Berbatov imo.

Based on how teams did in qualifying, its between Brazil and England for best team. (Based on actual teams, England doesn't come close)

Yea, but his run of form will dry out faster than their luck.
