Dana even said though, first round coulda gone either way and they decided Shogun didn't win it I guess. Octagon control, agression blah blah blah all adds up to points. Take 3 rounds out of 5 and you win.

I agree though, Mazzagati shouldn't ref. At all. Lets people stay on the ground for WAY too long when obvioulsy they're in a stale mate, I believe there was a fight where he called a tap when there was no tap at all (just a guy planting and re-planting his hand to try for a better position) that could've been someone else but I'm pretty sure it was him, I know for a fact he's called an end to a fight when a guy simply got rocked. I love Dana, so old school<3

Yeah Mazzagatti was also in the Velasquez/Rothwell fight right before Shogun/Rua, and stopped that fight at a really bad time I thought...Yeah Rothwell had been getting his ass whooped, but I don't agree with the timing of the stoppage at all. Rothwell was actually getting up when Mazzagatti stepped in.

Just finished watching it after recording it last night. Sure Rua did good, but you can't take the belt by doing good. You need domination all rounds, or a finish. Rua did neither.

If it were a plain old vanilla fight, it would be a toss up. The announcing was biased as hell. I would watch Machita land a kick and then two head shots - and the two talking douch bags would talk about what a great leg kick rua landed. It was comical.

Also, when you are going to give away the end result, please dont do it in the damn subject line. Throw a spoiler alert in the subject line so that people who are planning to watch it can turn their eyes till they get a chance to do so.

On the Rothwell fight, I agreed with the stoppage, he was in bad shape and although he did stand up, his face was in the open getting hammered at about the time the ref committed mentally to stop it. The stand up occurred a moment later.

GO ANTHONY JOHNSON - always fun to watch (aside from the time the finger went into his eye)

Dominate every round, or win 3 out of the 5

    You know who I miss?

Best UFC ref ever, haven't seen one yet that's anywhere near as good.

Yes. In order to relieve the champion of his belt, the challenger needs to dominate every single round, or finish him.

You might be looking at how it should be. I am looking at how it really is.

EDIT: Reading my original post, I see I wasn't entirely clear, so I rewrote how it should have been written initally.
