I would just like to reference an old PS2 game real quick: The Bouncer.
The graphics were pretty good for its time, but it put too much on graphics. As a result the gameplay was insanely short. You could beat the entire game in one day (which I did). After that, there really isn't much replay value to it because it is so short and easy.
I liked the game and wouldn't mind playing it again, but it does not compare to the classics such as Zelda, Metroid, Mega Man, Sonic. All old school games that I still play (NES, SNES, SEGA versions, etc). Why? Their gameplay and replay value rocks, even if they are old games with crappy graphics.

Looks mean nothing to me, I still play chess and other board games. Game play is everything, and I hate the people who love graphics and get us the trashiest games ever made. If you need shiny water, go outside and stare into the pond.....

Picked GD5/GP5, I like a balance between the two, and most importantly - replay value.

Re: What do you look for in a game?
A game should never sell purely for its graphical merit, IMO; at the end of the day, a game with more replay value will more likely give you your money's worth regardless of graphics.
Not to mention the beefy computer you'd need for a game like Crysis; it'll suck
