I agree with you here and I also hate the two-party system. The problem is we are not going to actually get any third or even fourth parties until we get rid of our first-past-the-pole system and introduce a type of proportional representation. There will always be two major parties, but without that proportional representation, those are the only two parties you will have because our system encourages a two-party system and discourages any other parties. I would love to be able to vote for a leftist party or candidate instead of having to settle for some crappy Democratic candidate, but that's what our system encourages.

I'm a liberal (registered independent, but I lean to the left on a good number of issues) but I take everything any politician says (whether Democrat, Republican, or anything else) with a grain of salt.
