I think RE4 was 9 years after the events of part 2 which was like 4 months after the mansion. Are they saying 10 years after RE1 or Code Veronica because Chris's last mission was really in CV.

RE took place in 1996.
RE4 took place in 2004.

(The beginning of RE4 says it's 2004 and it's 8 years after the mansion incident)
