Had to get the shot - the county made all of us in the fire department get immunized. I'm not complaining... it was free. And some of the nasty-ass patients I get... I wasn't taking chances!

last i had heard about H1N1 is that, in the people that it killed, they found had massive mucus build-up in their lungs. Thus it basically caused them to drown in their own fluids. Don't know if thats changed as of late or not.

As I recall that was the hallmark of the 1918 Spanish flu. And possibly the reason that otherwise healthy people can be susceptible, since they can mount large immune responses which contributes to garbage in the lungs. Drowning in dead friendlies, as it were...

Have no idea if that's the case again with this one or not.

My two oldest sons had it. My youngest son and my wife and I did not get it. It seemed no worse than the regular flu. The doctors told us to just keep an eye on them for any real breathing problems and all would be fine. And fine they are now.
