Scared? This is like super exciting! I would LOVE to be a cyborg.. but I'm also crazy like that. I'm in love with tech and the anime Ghost in the Shell makes me want that technology to exist, like now. Besides.. I'm going to need new lungs and a liver by the time I'm like 40 anyways
I love technology too, but really... an anime makes you feel a technology is sound? You totally lost me there.

When this technology surpasses the limitations provided by our bodies, what then? Do we cast away our shells and wear robotic parts simply for the improvement and convince? Will lopping off and replacing an arm become a cosmetic choice practiced by doctors in Beverly Hills?
Not that an anime makes me feel like a technology is sound, but it's kinda like an alternate future that is slowly becoming reality. I just like how the stuff in that show isn't all about being a cyborg but you can get simple implants that allow you to basically surf the internet in your head, which I just think would be super awesome to answer the phone by just thinking about it. Am I making much sense?
To what end? Do you also not want to have to get off the couch to eat shower or evacuate your bowels?

Really, picking up a phone is not that strenuous.
dude, when im asleep and wake up with an urge to poo, its a battle to get out of bed because im so tired.

also when theres a really sweet tv show on

I'm not saying I want to be lazy, but to be instantly connected without the usage of so many devices would be awesome. Video chat, recording what you see to watch later, so you can actually save your memories. That kind of stuff isn't about being lazy, it's just it would be so awesome. I would still like to shower and poop, but I would also like to be able to just think through certain tasks as well. That's just me though.

If they were "better" than the real deal, I'd take robotic limbs in a heartbeat.

There was an article posted recently by a paralympics athlete that had her legs amuptated below the knee. She uses those "cheetah" legs when running and can now outrun REGULAR athletes. The technology is very nearly better than the real thing. And when she wants to go out on the town she has some legs that are so close to real looking that you damn near can't tell. Not quite the same as this, but goes to show that soon, very soon, technology will surpass real flesh and blood. And when it does, why NOT become cyborgs?

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

That would be Aimee Mullins. She wrote a great article about the disabled and some of the awesome technologies behind helping them. http://gizmodo.com/5403322/racing-on...d-should-we-be

Also think about the neuro implant tech that I've been kinda talking about. There have been cases of fully paralyzed people being plugged into computers from the base of their brain, and by doing so they can talk... control the computer and do so much by just concentrating on the task at hand. Yes I'd like it for the convenience, but look at how easy it would be for some people to communicate with others.
