    Brian Kelly to Notre Dame

Re: Brian Kelly to Notre Dame

admission standards is definitely their big hurdle. Last national championship was 1988. To my knowledge, I don't think admission standards have changed since then. They have had some nice seasons, losing 2 in 2006, but just are just not the "it" school right now for high school players to choose. Hell, USC wasn't the "it" school and floundered until they started winning as of late. Alabama will be the "it" school for a while now when they make Colt cry...

As for a horrible career move - can't fault the guy. Many still feel it is one of the ultimate coaching jobs in football. Similar to that of a head coaching job at University of Kentucky (basketball). If he flounders, he'll be swooped up by another college for a head coaching position. You know what they'll chalk failure up to, admission standards and inturn graduation rate.

I think weather plays a large factor in recruiting. Do you want to spend 6 months out of your year in snow, or 9+ months out of the year in sunshine?
Chicks generally don't wear two pieces in the snow, so I'd go with the 9 months of sunshine. And Cinci players have every reason to complain. He abandoned them; and right before a huge Bowl Game no less. Kelly could have waited until after the bowl game. He sold out. Period.
