Pens write on one thing but not another

GOD DAMNIT!!

I hate it when a pen will write on a Piece of paper just fine, but as soon as i try to write "Merry christmas" on a card, It doesn't work. So i Write on the paper again, and it works fine, but it still won't work on the card.

Sometimes the pen has trouble getting the ink out on that particular surface. Try putting a couple sheets of paper under the card before you write on it. Works for me, but then again maybe the pens are just strange.

That is annoying. Like Iron said Sharpies are great but if you really want it to look good and write on most surfaces I'd use a fountain pen personally. If you have decent penmanship it really makes it look amazing. But you really have to look at the grain of the paper to make sure it will not bleed into the cracks or if its waxy the ink will sit on top of the paper and will not dry correctly.
