One thing I dont get...

How are they not trained to do so?

yea if you read the whole novel (like i did cuz im bored) they say the paramedics went in and apprehended the killer (who was waving around a bloody knife). I am not too 100% on how this stuff works but as far as i know paramedics arent trained in that kind of stuff, cops are.

No, we are not. We are trained to stage until the scene has been secured by law enforcement. But I tell you there, there isnt anyone in thier right mind that would try to help if they witnessed a murder, especially with a knife. A gun, I could understand, but a knife, and its 4 v 1...yea, that fucker is going down.
