I'm just stating, that from what i've seen, Republicans do no more to combat "big government" then Democrats do.
How old were you when the republicans controlled congress last? How about in 94?
what did they do the last time they controlled congress, for over 6 years? oh yeah expand government and spend money. And in 1994 do you think George W. Bush would of been elected as a republican? Hell would half of the republicans in there now been elected? i doubt it.

The current party is nothing like how it used to be, and to think their "Anti-big government" is anything more then in the same realm of "change" is fooling yourself.

A isolated example, but is banning gay marriage keeping government out of peoples private life?

You mean filibuster proof control (60+ members)? That rarely happens for either party. Otherwise they had "control" during parts of the the Bush administration but not others: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_...ol_of_congress

Further the "Supermajority" the Dems recently had was incredibly short due to Kennedy's death and was never used to stop cloture in any case.

    Re: Mass Senate special election

2006 is what I refer to.

I dont think for a minute we are going to get a congress in there that reduces govt and cuts spending from any party. Not a bit. What I do think is that having control over 41 seats is going to slow down the drunken spending that was being lined up.

The amount of money that has been committed over the past year is mind blowing. The president and his lapdog congress were out of control. I sincerely believe that Scott Brown will do good by putting the brakes on it.

I also believe that the moment of pause given to the Democratic controlled congress will do some good, putting a cap on their aspirations.

Well in fairness, i have rarely heard of anyone on either side that likes the current bills. The right thinks it goes too far, and the left thinks it doesn't do enough.

You are correct. I am not a fan of this bill at all, not because I don;t think we need to change our system, but because the current bill won't change it....... Whereas Clintok seems to be the type that is glad that there won't be any change i the system at all. At least that is the line of those he seems to support.

Yes it has become a health insurance reform bill rather than health care reform. And I think Insurance is the problem. I would rather have government between me and the doc than big business.

I am very pleased this bill is where it is. Based on the outcome of the stimulus, the cash for clunkers, and other failed initiatives, the hopes that the democrats could rush through something behind closed doors with zero input from the other side of the aisle and get something right is zero.

Hasty action to get point on the score board in time for the state of the union would have led to additional hundreds of billions of dollars going down the drain. The accomplishments of this congress and the president do not inspire faith that this would have been any different.
