Re: Is my job jipping me
My boss already said he wasn't. But I was seeing if it was him saying no or Corp saying. I read ithere is no law in Texas regarding mileage remburstment. They are being very cheap 62 people have to go to this meeting and will cost the company 1700 if everyone was paid for 1 hr dive time. Oh well. Hopefully I get free beer. (Bastet beer) For some reason it's at one of our vendors. "coors".
Thanks

I wouldn't worry about it. You are not talking about a lot of money here. If you are driving 60MPH for 1.5 hours, making your driving distance approx 90 miles, at 20MPG, you would be consuming only 4.5 gal of gas. This is just a rough estimate of course, but you can do the rest of the math. I don't think $12 is much to gripe about .
Now if it starts to become a regular thing, then sure. But you should consider yourself lucky. I used to to drive an hour each way, every day, and I never got any compensation.
Then again, depending on your situation, $12 could be a lot to you... so I really don't know what else to say...

there are no "good gigs" right now, my company (not MY company, the other one I work for ), who has never EVER laid off people is starting down that path. Lot's of people stand to loose their jobs this year. Be thankful and be glad you're not driving 1.5hrs each way to FIND a job.

I am pretty sure they do not have to pay you for the mileage but the mileage is tax deductible. It will probably not make the minimum requirements if you only have one trip per year. All that said, it is pretty busch league for them not to pay you for your time and expense.

As an office manager and former business owner, I believe I could understand if someone on a small salary, raised concerns about the travel expense prior to the meeting, then I could attempt to make travel arrangements for them, if there were a number of employees going to attend. But, anything said after the fact would be unfavorably looked upon, and your name would be put on the short list for replacement.
In other words, it's okay to voice a concern, but nobody likes a complainer. If they provide you with a lunch or dinner, consider the debt paid.
