Thread: Global Warming Research Paper

For starters I would avoid using the word "prove" and say "currently, the majority of evidence supports." Key idea in science; there is no proof (except in pure mathematics) just evidence to support or disconfirm.

If this is a college level paper I would go see if your ESR (or whatever they call the Environmental Science department at your college) and see if any of the textbooks are on reserve. Every survey level ESR course covers this topic extensively.

Also, check out wikipedia (do NOT cite it however) and check out what sources their articles link to and keep reading from there paying attention to the trustworthiness of the sources (no news articles, just NASA, .gov, .mil, .edu and peer reviewed articles).

Pretty much, english 5 AP, and my school aint too big on the whole environmental sciences department

ESR stands for environmental science and resources. It is not just about environmentalism but also about resources humans use and keeping them in abundance for exploitation, errr, our benefit!

I started a similar thread a couple years back with the same game plan, although it was on firearms. Gave me 3 really good articles too :9

Nope, the purpose can be whatever we choose it to be, to persuade, inform, explore, come to a middle ground. Basically the purpose is what we want it to be, I haven't decided yet.

In argumentative papers I have found that the Rogerian method works more nicely at it uses common ground and offering up your own arguments weaknesses to avoid polarization in a debate. I do love writing...

I truly never was one for the Rogerian method, tired it a few time and it didnt work out too well, I'm not good with middle ground, I usually go with Toulmin, confrontational.
