Crazy Idea. Superbowl block Pool

What if we started a block pool for the Superbowl. We could sell each block for $5 which would make the block pool worth a total of $500. (100 blocks)

Then we could break it down for each qtr payout to be like:

1qtr- 50
2qtr- 100
3qtr- 50
Final- 150

I would charge $50 to run this and then the remaining $100 would be donated to TTP?
Payments could be sent via paypal. I could just select blocks randomly then when they are all filled out I could have on of the TTP admins not playing select random numbers for the sides. I'd assume most of you know how these block pools work? Tell me what you guys think?

I'm guessing that gambling on TTP property is going to be frowned on.....

Yea..I was looking for a rule about that. On a positive note, $100 would be donated to TTP. Maybe we can do a 50/50.

Can a TTP admin please confirm this rule?

Really? You'd try and charge a $50 "administration" fee for doing football squares?

But you have to be careful here. Depending on state law, this would fall under "social gambling" and if the state allows it would be legal as long as all the money is payed out. What you are suggesting could be technically illegal, and I don't know if TTP would want to condone illegal behavior.

Very good points. "Social Gambling" draws a fine line. I know I would not want the TTP community to get in trouble.
It was just something I was thinking about at 2am EST....

Just so you know, I'm not saying this is a bad idea. I do football squares all the time. It's just more iffy when you are gambling online with people spread out over different states and countries and the laws all vary.

I didnt think you thought that. I do a bunch of them here in Philly. Some are $200 a block. I was just thinking of something the TTP community could do. Shame we can't give out prizes for each qtr winner. Maybe donate the $500 to TTP and give the winners some reserved slots or something.

I would presume that TTP will in on way sanction any of this. This is a far cry from the yahoo fantasy football leagues I've seen on here. What you do with your own time and email addresses is your own business.
