http://www.azcentral.com/offbeat/art...ated-peru.html
Doctors in Peru mistakenly amputated the wrong foot of an 86-year-old man, then had no choice but to cut off the other one as well to keep an infection from spreading, relatives and officials said Monday
seriously though, talk about a pretty massive fail.

Well yes, mistakes do happen, but there still needs to be a revision to some of these lawsuits.
I think it's florida where their malpractice insurance for surgeons is hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Here's a small example of why people shouldn't always be able to sue.
Woman brought her son to the dentist (who uses Nitrous Gas to put people out). She lied on the health forms and said that her son had no heart conditions (when he actually did). She also lied and stated that she hadn't given her son any medications lately, when she had given him nyquil to relax him.
Doctor used gas, son died in chair. Doctor was sued and mother won lots of money.
So yes, tort law needs to be altered.
Edit - just to make things clear, the boy died because of the mixture of medication and the nos, which the doctor had no knowledge of, since the mother lied on these forms. Doctor also had her career ruined for something that was not her fault.
