Both 'sides' do this, but this is minor compared to other items. It all adds up though which is why I get a bit grumpy when even thinking about it all. Sucks.

I would rather have more money for my own booze, or it go to getting better items my kid's school needs.
I think of 1984 when you said that. Big Bother will give you a booze allowance (Victory Gin) and they'll give your kids what they think is nessecary.

What I mean is, my tax money is not precious to me, it is what I owe the big bad government for all these things I benefit from. Now if only I could get public option health care...
Why don't you buy your own Health Insurance? How is it a "right" (as some people call it...not you in particular,Soy) when you have to dip into someone else's pockets to attain it? If someone else has to pay for it,it isn't a "right".

I don't mind paying my fair share either....but when the Gov't is broke,it should have to do what I do when I am in the same situation....cut back. They don't seem to get that. Instead, they demand a raise from the very people they are putting out of business.

Also, when taxes go up,it hurts everybody....not just the people who's taxes get raised. If we take money out of my bosses pocket,he has less money to hire employees, buy cars from the local dealerships, have his house remodeled/repaired,shop at the local mall, ect.

Look at what Billy C did when he added a "luxury tax" on new yachts back in the 90's. It was meant to "stick it" to the rich people buying new yachts, but it didn't work that way. The people either bought used yachts or none at all,and consequently put many boat builders out of business, and cost many Joe Lunchpails their jobs. Because of that tax increase, the Gov't brought in LESS money, and put companies out of business....

It is insane how inefficient the government is. If you think it looks bad from the outside, you should see it from the inside. It is obscene.
Our tax code is crazy too. Due to the way tax laws are structured, I will be, for the second year in a row, paying taxes on money that I am paying to the Federal Government. Fun huh? I get to fund this inefficient POS with $8000 of my hard earned cash this year. I cant wait for my 3% increase next year. :3

    Sleep, eat, conquer, meditate, repeat.

Well the Constitute says you have a right to council. Why does that matter? Basically if i can't afford council, someone else has to pay for it

So the 6th amendment is wrong then when it says that?

Because the State is the one who brings the charges and the result is a need for Council. You aren't appointed a PD if you are being sued in a Civil case.

How do you figure you have the right to force me to hand over my money for something that doesn't do anything for me? The money I give to the Gov't is for things that benefit all of us....roads,bridges,defense,education (although I think private institutions do it better) and the like.

See, this is a perfect example why a dot com should never be used as a source, you never know what's misconstrued. Reuters made a mistake which is why the article of this thread has been removed from the internet.

Well in most cases, its a person who brings the charges and the state is the one who takes the case (and generally acts as the plaintiff). Does giving some guy who killed 20 people a PD do anything for you? Unless you are going to committing crimes, it doesn't really do anything for you. Healthcare (done right) wouldn't benefit everyone with shorter waits in the ER, lower costs on medical procedures, and hopefully better care.

impossible!, it got taken down because the left controls the media and they aren't allowed to say anything bad about them

No...In ALL criminal cases it's the State that brings the charges. And yes....it's part of the criminal justice system, and that does a lot for us. It isn't about defending the guy who did kill the 20 people,it's about defending the guy who looks like the guy who killed 20 people without financially bankrupting him for the rest of his life,or worse yet, locking up an innocent man.

And No....State run HC will not make the level of care any better....more like worse...and more expensive. Everything the Gov't touches gets worse, and more expensive. Give me two things that the Gov't has taken over that are better and cheaper.

That is not to say there need to be some changes in our insurance system...there certainly are some that need to be made. But to take the best HC system in the World (people from all over come here) and throw it out completely is asinine. That is one of the reasons they can't push it through...even with a super majority. Fix what is broken, but a complete overhaul and/or replacement doesn't make any sense....especially with the amount of $ being spent elsewhere and an economy that is hurting....badly.
