I feel your pain Glitch. I had a yellow lab in late high school and all through college and beyond. I finally had to make the decision to put her down, and I tell you what, I still think about it to this day. I know in my heart that it was the right thing to do, but seriously it compared to losing a person. All kidding aside. I think I grieved for like a year! Maybe longer. Maggie was always there for me when no one else was.

Sometimes I ask myself, was all that pain really worth it? The answer is YES. I got close to a decade of love, loyalty, companionship and fun from a friend I will NEVER forget. It may sound ghey, but it gives me some peace to believe I will see her again someday, and that she understands why I did what I did.

Just remember if you get another dog, you are not replacing Sable or dishonoring the memory. Our dogs want us to be happy more than anything, because they somehow have the ability to see only the good in people. I wish I could say the same. Hang in there.

1. Any dog from the pound. They can be just as loyal and smart as any elitist "full breed" dog.
2. Lab
3. Jack Russel Terrier
4. Beagle
5. German Shepard

Hmmm My choices would be cats first and then dogs (just because of the fact that I can't be around enough)

Sorry to hear about your loss glitch. When mine died it fucking sucked would be putting it mildly. I'm like you no kids just my dogs which live a pretty good life. I have to say i recommend getting another. What you did was in the best interest of the animal not yourself. You did right by the last one and there are more out there that need help from someone who actually gives a shit about them.
