Body Found in Landing Gear

Japanese officials are trying to identify a body found on a Delta Airlines flight which arrived in Tokyo from New York on Sunday night.

A mechanic found the body inside one of the landing gear compartments of the Boeing aircraft during maintenance.

The man, who was of dark complexion and dressed only in blue jeans and a long-sleeved shirt, was carrying no passport or personal belongings, police say.

He was possibly a stowaway and probably froze to death, they added.

The temperature in that part of the plane falls to about -50C during flight.

Police official Zenjiro Watanabe told the Associated Press that the man must have sneaked in just before departure.

He said that the man's body had no visible injuries except for signs of frostbite.

Mr Watanabe said police were investigating the incident both as an accident and a possible crime.

There has been no official comment so far from Delta officials.

first thought was WTF? why someone would be in the landing gear is a good question.

Also doesn't it make you feel so uch more safer, nothing says banning all sorts of shit on the plane/in security is working, when someone can manage to get on the tarmac and into the landing gear without anyone knowing (they are making it sound as if it wasn't airline/airport staff)

This has happened before. It sucks to die that way, I'm sure.

The likelyhood of a terrorist trying that is pretty skinny, as freezing to death may happen before they could detonate a small bomb. Interesting to consider, however, sinse a T-bomber doesn't give a shit about life/death.

Freezing to death isn't instantaneous, I'm sure the terrorists wouldn't care where the plane was in-flight when they decide to detonate the bomb.... then again, why even bother with bombing people on planes when they can go to any public crowded place to do it....

Blowing up a plane would instill a lot of fear when it comes to flying and airport safety which would destroy multiple companies. Look at how 9/11 crippled the airline industry, imagine what it would do now, after all of these new albeit somewhat stupid regulations (in some respects) were in place. Many many many people would not touch a single airplane.

why would they need to get in the landing gear? if they can get on the tarmac easily there is a shit load of things they could do to destroy more then just 1 plane.
