Re: Church
no, it there is a god, he stopped being around a long time ago, not saying he doesn't care its just that stuff kinda points to no one minding the store.
I've never had faith in what im told to, and if proof is given, then faith is pointless.
Religion has served its role, laws may now take its place, but we have some editing to do.

Re: Church
I have way too many doubts about religion. Sure it has good things about it, but too many people abuse it for their own gain. Besides, some religious people that I know are annoying. They think they're so great because they believe they're going to heaven. I for one strongly believe if you live a good life and are a good person, you'll get into the heaven. If you're a little Hitler or Charles Manson, your ass will be...well, think prison but much worse.
And even if there's not a heaven or hell, I'm perfectly fine with endless sleep. I like my sleep

Re: Church
I believe everyone has to find something to believe in. If it's church, then so much better for them - they've found something to give their life focus. I was raised by my mother to go to church, forced to sunday school / confirmation classes / etc, baptized Lutheran, confirmed Presbyterian, but it was all just through the motions for my mother's benefit. Nothing I saw or learned during that time ever gave me "proof" of the foundation of a specific religion, especially when one says they are better than another. Most religions I know of are based on one supreme being. How they come to that particular being is what differentiates them, but they still come to the same conclusion, giving them a commonality that they refuse to acknowledge. I think this refusal above all is what drove me away.
It's faith, in whatever someone chooses, that drives each person. My personal faith doesn't include an almighty savior, as I think if there were, He/She wouldn't permit such death / destruction in His/Her name, but I do understand and respect other people have different beliefs.Per Aspera Ad Astra
