Thread: Your parents tell you one thing for a whole year then tell u something differnt

So, Ever since my senior year in highschool (last year 2009) my parents have said id have to wait till Next year before theyd cosign on a car for me if i wanted one and had the money. I dont really need a New car as i have a truck that i got for free from my uncle that i only have to pay insuarnce on, So a new car or even a used car would be stupid, However my truck needs a lot of work and while im doing all the work i occasionally jump on craigslist to see whats on there. Ontop of this my dad keeps asking me if i really wanna spend all this money on my truck when i could just get another car. So i jumped on tonight and found a car i really liked, and although i prolly wouldnt have bought it anyway, i figured id humor myself and i go and talk to my dad about it. He goes i never said id cosign a car for you this year and i wont do it. Im like you guys have been telling me since my senior year you would u just needed to wait till this year...And there like no we never said that and were not gonna cosign for you get your own credit and loan. IM like What. The. Fuck. Seriously?

Lol. Lesson learned. Doesnt matter i just stick iwth my truck. I love her anyway, But the car i found on craigslist really peaked my interest.

get a credit card, charge a small amount every month, pay it off at the end of the month EVERY TIME. Keep doing this and you'll establish credit. I started with a secured card from the bank. It wont take long to get enough credit to buy a car.

But in reality, not having car payments is awesome. My truck has 300k on it and runs rough but when it does break down its much cheaper than a car payment would be. I've been stuck on the side of the road a few times, nothing a chain and a friend couldnt fix.

I love my truck ugly and all, had her nearly half her life. One day I'll have enough money to fix her up nice.

Ya i got a student credit card with a decent limit, I was going to use it recently but backed off the idea and havent used it ever. I love m ytruck to death 200,000miles+ and still runs strong, With all the work and time ive put into her so far shes been running real smooth, Just this winter sucked with only 2 wheel drive as i couldnt get out in the 2feet of snow that was dumped on my house, ive had those moments on my way to work where randomly she breaks down and im stuck. ive even been through the joys of having all my negative wires come loose. but in the end i agree that car payments would suck when im gonna have student loan payments and i can just spend my money now and get my truck fixed up right so shell last another 4-5years or more.
