    First 3 rows are made up of 4 instraments.

    Come on.

    1 row in the back and 2 pods in the back left and right made up of, what, 12? instraments? More or less.

    Point being that wind instruments need less players to play at the level expected.

    Besides dynamics are relative. If you play a piano loudish you better play forte 10x louder. Change in dynamic is what matters, and in that area wind instruments are better.

    I got you both beat....

    wanna talk about sound? I marched a 30" yamaha bass drum...was even bass captain (of the 5 bass drummers) I could single-handedly fill a stadium with sound, either percussive hits or rolls.

    wanna talk about price?
    My main instrument was bassoon....I couldn't even afford my own, and the one the school loaned me was worth roughly 7-8k......and that's a student-level bassoon.

    /*EDIT*\
    what do I think you should do about selling it? call up a local high school and talk to their orchestra teacher....tell her what you have and what she honestly thinks it's worth, and ask her if any students would be interested in it.

    ALOT of people in my area end up selling their old instruments back to the students of their former schools...whether they're upgrading or getting out of music, it benefits everybody.

    I got you tied...

    I marched a 30" surdo in a samba band. I was surdo leader, and often performed for 3 hours at a time. Pissed me off when the cowbell players would call us slackers!

    dude, that sounds like fun! I once had a chance to join a pan drum (jamaican steel drum) band...but didn't take it...Wish I would've.
