New Sportbike Time...
Well I took my `05 Suzuki GS500 out of hibernation a little while ago and there seems to be an issue with some incredible sticky shifting. I took it into the shop and the mechanic there (trusted) tweaked the throttle and took a look at it and said he wouldnt be able to do anything without a $150 inspection (i.e. actually start taking things apart) + $$$ for whatever is wrong with it. Ive gotten two years out of her and she was a great learning bike (this is my third season riding), but I think its time to upgrade.
Here's where Im looking for some suggestions.
* Im a modest rider that just likes the joy of cruising the streets
* I want to stay in the 600-750cc range (sportbike)
* Id rather buy used <$6500
* Im 6'2" so something fit for a taller rider is preferable.
Im thinking something in the Suzuki or Kawa family. What do yall suggest?

For the love of God not another GSXR.
What is your riding style? Do you street race at all?
I know you said "cruising the streets" but is a sport bike the kind of ride you want for just "cruising?"
Might want to look at a power cruiser or something.
But, if a sports bike is what you want, you might want to talk to Niner. He would be your man in that field. He puts on Track days/races quite a bit.

gsxr all the way baby. Naw really I like all sport bikes.. except 500s
Def time for a upgrade man, and for 6500 bucks you basically can get anything u want... and fuck your trusted mechanic trying to charge u 150 right out of the gate... stuff like that only costs like an hour of labor around here... wayyy less than 150. bout 75 is more realistic.
I say fuck that gs and upgrade to something with a 180 for a back tire..[quote author=...bigdog... link=topic=81507.msg1197022#msg1197022 date=1268327193]

BUSA TURBO
but for real, if I were you, i'd look for used yamaha R6's. I saw one on ebay motors for 2k and it listed the only problem was a slightly bent wheel, easily fixable.
Of course...this is all coming from a teenager who can't afford a motorcycle.

My personal preference is a CBR1000RR. I have an 2007 black/charcoal.

Cool beans. Thanks for the input. Im going to pick up the clunker and probably ride it out this season (I literally just paid it off, I want to get some time of no payments!) and trade up once winter hits. It'll be hard not to be able to ride it until next season, but probably the best time I can get a deal.
