There is a scientific explanation/reasoning for having seconds, hours, days, months, and years. What is the reasoning for having 7 days in one week?

Because the Jews decided it was so in 6th century BC.

There is no scientific reason, just cultural and religious. For it to be scientific it would need to be based on something natural like a lunar cycle.

6 days, then rested on the 7th. Saturday should be the day of rest (and I think might even still be in the Jewish belief, or at least with some of the orthodox Jews), but if I remember correctly, the Christians shifted it to Sunday.. I don't remember the reasoning behind why, tho.

Because if church was on Saturday, everyone would have to work Sunday while football was on.

The interesting thing is the names of the days of our week... all but Saturday have Norse roots. Saturday is Saturn's Day.. the rest.. Monday = Mona, Tuesday = Tyr, Wednesday = Woden (Odin), Thursday = Thor, Friday = Freya, Sunday = Sunna (Sol)

Yes but what's the reasoning behind having 24 hours in a day? Kind of an odd split. Is there any real reason why they couldn't split it into 10 hours? Or following the order 60 or 6 hours. (60 seconds, 60 minutes, etc)

God created in 6 days, then rested on the 7th. We are unsure as to why he made 60 seconds in 1 minute, 60 minutes in 1 hour, and 24 hours in 1 day, but he just did. He's God, right?
