Replaced my TV, need advice on my new Plasma

Ok, so as many know...I broke my old TV. So today I went and bought this beauty:

    http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-PN50C5.../dp/B003922WH0

    My questions are:

Anyone know if burn-in is still much of an issue? This unit has something called pixel shift that is supposed to mitigate that issue.

Should I "break-in" this TV with low contrast and brightness?

Should I use a break-in movie to break it in?

    Thanks!

my advice is to return it, then spend the money on one of those new Samsung LED 3D tvs.

For the low percentage of games and movies that will be in 3d, $1k+ more isn't worth the money at this point.

I don't know about breaking in a TV...i never knew you had to do that. I do know if you want it to last longer you should be conservative with the brightness setting you have it on, but other than that just go for it. Oh, and keep pillows away from where you can trip over them.

Yeah, the thing is..I bought this one and am sticking with it. No 3d, no LED. So, anyone have any experience with plasma want to give me input?

I say fucking run the thing. Burn in is still an issue but no where close to what once was.

Re: Replaced my TV, need advice on my new Plasma

Don't go leaving it on any static screen (game screen on a ps3 or xbox for instance)... Don't run 4:3 screens with black bars on the sides (use scaling of whatever sort you are comfortable with)...

Some of those Samsungs have Always White and a signal pattern processor that is supposed to eliminate electrically charged residual images... I don't know how well it works, but better safe than sorry. Used to be you could trash a 5000 dollar plasma in a few hours of running a static image. It's one reason why, even though the pictures are phenomenal, I won't own one.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

I have read on new plasmas that IR is a thing of the past.

Here is a tread about breaking in. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...949107&page=73

People use this to break them in http://eaprogramming.com/ maybe not a much anymore.

I would say just don't have to many programs with still parts like game consoles or 4:3 pictures for a little while.
