Did you know that simple green...

Did you know that simple green acts as a paint stripper for water-based paints? I didn't but I tried it and it's working pretty well so far. One overnight of soaking has removed one layer of paint from some models of mine that I want to repaint. That and some elbow greased tooth brush rubbing is working wonders.

Did you also know that aerosol spray deodorant can remove permanent marker from many different surfaces? One spray at about one inch away and it comes right off.

So tell me, TTP... What household chemicals do you use for things that they weren't meant for?

As always, your mileage will vary but it'd be interesting to hear what you guys use various things for.

Simple green in concentrated form will degrease engines and diluted in laundry after the water is in the machine will take out oil stains. It loosens up oil based paint on metal too (see my enfield post in my clan section).

Windex will allow you to get rings stuck on your finger to slip off easier than any other soap.

WD40 gets rid of leg craps.......... sounds off the wall but it Works ! WD40 is a direct result of the Space Program, the Apollo program needed a lubricant that would lubricate as well as displace water and conduct electricity. WD stands for Water Displacing

If I cut myself well enough, I use SuperGlue to mend the cut, sometimes instead of sutures. It was used as a first-aid tool in Vietnam...... And the shit works wonders. Best invention, next to duct tape.

Well that's what derma bond is (for the most part) and it works wonders. When I busted my elbow I just glued it back together.
