By the way, I'm currrently using the Palm Pre. The webOS works very nicely, but I'm not real crazy about the keyboard. Definetly is a learning curve to get used to the small buttons, but once you do, it works very well. The problem with webos is the lack of apps and Palms pending demise.

The problem with the Android OS is that since it is open source, the OEMs can customize it with their own UI. HTC has their own 'Sense' UI that they have on most, if not all of their phones. Motorola has their 'Blur' UI. The Motorola Droid and Nexus One are the only 2 Android phones (and maybe the original G1) that don't use a custom UI. As new versions of Android are released, the OEM is then responsible for having to port their UI to the new version.

I love my Droid, but several phones have come out since that have me drooling. The Nexus One, HTC EVO and the Droid Incredible (HTC Incredible). Overall I'm happy with my Droid, but the newer phones are just so much more advanced and are much sexier in their stylings.

    LOL

The Dell Lighting comes out later this year. It's a Win7 phone and supposed to have the Zune software on it as well, but I haven't confirmed that yet. Although from what I've seen it looks like Win7 mobile is kicking ass and taking names with mobile office apps. From the pics and vids Ive seen I'm really excited about the phone.

This is exactly the problem. Every phone runs a different firmware. My friend bought his Motorola CLIQ after I bought my phone and still can't get beyond 1.5 thanks to Motorolo's BS MOTOBLUR. He can't do a few things like the google GPS navigator which I use all the time. Every new android phone comes out with a different firmware and leaves the others behind.

I am looking to replace my Verizon HTC Touch Pro in January. I'll probably be choosing between the Droid (or the Jan '11 equivalent) and the HTC Incredible. Anira has a first gen iPhone and will be switching to the Incredible most likely as well.

If I was still on Verizon, I would 100% go with the Incredible. That device will be somewhat similar to the version coming out on Sprint this summer.

Will be interested in seeing the new iphone when it hits and if they will finally be coming to Verizon. That is the phone my wife wants.

Blackberry announced their updated op system and it is looking good and looks to result in more touch screen models in the future.

Here is an interesting read regarding Andy Ruben from Google about the open source Android.

See, exactly where they are heading with different versions.

Of the fear that Android could “fork” into various different versions, making it difficult for application developers to create one program for all Android devices, Mr. Rubin compared the platform with every other PC operating system.

What is the percent? You can get discounts from any carrier with a little homework. I got the Samsung Moment from Sprint... cheapest price out there for an Android phone with decent hardware, and cheap plan prices too. Running Android 2.1 (not even officially available for this phone yet) and loving it... what a huge upgrade from my last dumbphone.
