    Lexington Officer Laid to Rest

Officer Bryan Durman of the Lexington Ky Police Dept. was laid to rest today. He was involved in a Hit and run Thursday night. He took a call that evening about a noise complaint in someones vehicle. He showed up to the car, walked up to it and was hit by an Suv. The Suv sped off and left the scene. Durman was quickly taken to the hospital where he was shortly thereafter pronounced dead. Durman left behind a wife and a 4 year old son.

I personally only remember Officer Durman from one party I remember seeing him at. But my brother, a police officer, remembers working with him a few times and hung out with him maybe a handful of times. Everyone that remembered Officer Durman knew him as a very caring guy, a loving husband, and a great father. Most remembered him for loving his job, one man whom Durman saved his life a few months before (motorcycle accident) came to the funeral today to say thank you which he hadn't yet gotten to do.

Today I went to the funeral, more for support for my brother because I really didn't know Durman all that well. The part that got me the most was the funeral procession. At least 95% of the Lexington Police force was there along with quite a few firefighters. Deputys, troopers, and sheriffs from all over the state also came to show their support.

Nothing got me more than when the funeral procession entered the streets of Lexington. I was completely humbled by the site of how many people lined the streets saying thank you, and saying how much he will be missed. The procession was at least 25 miles long and consisted mostly of Police cruisers and motorcycles. I was in complete awe of it all. Never seen anything like it in my life and to be a part of it was truly amazing.

    heres a few pics.

this is not even close to half the amount of officers that came

That is a chilling, yet beautiful sight to see.

Unfortunately,we here in the tundra of Minnesota will be laying one of our finest to rest this week too.
