What CAD software do you know and what other types of 3d programs do you know? I would try and get into architectural drawings and architects always need a draftsman to do drawing clean ups and what not.
I started in architectural design and modeling. Moved around from there doing molds, prototypes and 3D visualizations for big houses. Been there done it all.
I had a 16 y/o working for me at one point doing standard clean-ups and line changes. He got into some design and mold drawings. I only needed him part time and he did a lot of the stuff from home. He worked for me for about 6 years until he graduated college for mechanical engineering.

Some othere things i've learned is how to link Excel to Inventor. I'm able to link it so that a customer is able to enter in specifications to a part and the model will auto-update and all you need to do is move some demensions around and print. I found this useful for an airsoft canon that was in design, but gave up on because of cost.

Well, you are on the right track. Learn each of those programs well. Just keep doing the things you are doing and you will find something to do in that field. Look at surveying companies. They are always looking for entry level draftsmen to do property lines and the like. ArcGIS is a really nice program for a lot of modeling(wind and water), GPS tracking and general land projects. You might want to throw 3D Max into the mix as well. That is an awesome program. If you need help with any of that let me know. I will help you out.
