A lot of students in the States going to a school in their home state wont pay much at all for college. Grants and scholarships go a long way. I didn't pay a dime in tuition.

And I know people who have profited from grants and scholarships. The point is for undergraduate education in the States and Canada, there is a significant gap when private schools like MIT are included. In Canada, world renowned schools like Toronto, UBC, Waterloo, McGill have tuition prices close to each other, and are much lower than somewhere like MIT.
