Re: Guitar Pedals: Part 2
Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Dweezil Zappa, and a few others might disagree with your assessment. There's a ton of Axe-FX owners that have sold all their vintage/boutique tubes after playing an AFX.
Plus, my back thanks me.

I hear ya about your back thanking you. This is the exact same reason why my "biggest" amp is a Fender Vibrolux. It is less than 50 lbs and is more than enough power for what I need.
And don't get me wrong, I think that for some people, the Axe-FX stuff is great, but it just isn't for me. I can post links for artists that endorse Marshall or Fender amplifiers, but it is still going to be subjective. My opinion of what I heard from the Axe-FX was that it had an incredibly wide range selection of things it did marginally well. My rig has a much more narrow selection that it does exceptionally well, which to me, is more important.
I don't care how well the Axe-FX emulates the Fender clean tone... it won't do it as well as a Vibrolux or Twin Reverb. Sometimes you gotta keep things simple after you find the sound that you are looking for, which I have.
