did anyone watch it tonight? I was amazed at what he did out there being a rookie in his first start. Granted it was the Pirates but still. 94 pitches in 7.0 IP, 14 K, 2 ER, and I think 4 or 5 hits given up (no walks). His curve looks pretty nasty, and the fastball was crazy. Command looked a bit off at times but managed to fight back from some early hitters count. After given up a HR, went to strikeout 8 of the next 10. Crazy stuff.
I don't expect him to keep this pace up for the rest of season (duh) but the way his pitches looked, he could end up with a decent strikeout tally for about 100ip pitched.
Your thoughts?

Re: Strasburg's Debut
Ya I watched the game..holy shit this kid is the real deal. Seriously a 2 and 4 seam fastball that ranges from 97 to 100mph, a 87 mph curve ball that breaks quick, late and is really nasty, and a 81 mph change up that is just down right dirty. Its a good thing the Nat's waited until now to bring him up cuz the team is doing pretty bad, and hes a marketing dream for the rest of the season. Ya I wouldnt be surprised if we see him in Cooperstown one day with more than 3 Cy Youngs...hes that fucking good.

Re: Strasburg's Debut
when i saw that he got 14 k's i was shocked. it is very rare to see a player jump up to the majors his rookie year let alone throw 14 strikeouts in 7 innings. too bad for him he is on the nationals and will never get any run support to win games.
