Re: Getting wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow
They do use the wedges but you do stay awake in some cases. Depending on how impacted the teeth are, the root growth, and a few other things it's just more cost effective to not nuke you with gas / the IV stuff. They can just quarter the teeth with a drill and pull them out.
Yeah and as everyone has said the straw thing is a VERY bad idea.
I had it lucky, when I had mine taken out they just gave me the IV drip and I was out cold, woke up with one of those kids toys where you write things and just slide the bar across to erase. (I was mid sentence on the board and had no idea what I was trying to say when I mentally snapped out of it). I had all 4 done at once but because they hadn't broken the surface yet and the roots were still small they just made little flaps, pulled out the teeth and just dropped the flaps back down. No stitches or anything, and I didn't bother going to the store for the pain pills. The loratabs or whatever they give you are fail and do nothing for swelling (always the hydro / acetaminophen mix which I just don't like)... I just took advil, but I also had mostly stopped bleeding by then. I was also eating solid foods the next morning. And chips by the 2nd day.Last edited by Rawr; 12-19-10 at 04:28 PM.

Yeah, when I had mine out, they gave me vicodin. That did nothing for the pain (the liquid version tastes like crap, too). I took either Tylenol or Advil and that did the trick mostly.
Milk shakes are your friend.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.

when I had mine I must of been lucky, granted they hadn't broke the surface either. never hurt one bit (didn't even need ibuprofen or asprin), the worst part was the anesthesia, made me feel like shit the first couple days, then had to be careful when standing up for another couple (almost knocked myself out standing up too quick). Had some crazy diet restriction, like on dairy and junk.
