RAAGE
*ULTRA RAGE
so, I try to play oblivion even on the lowest settings, oblivion crashes every 10 or 15 minutes... I think it has something to do with windows 7
tried to put in my second video card and do CrossFireX, which basically combines the two video cards to make one good one
so it didnt work, so I decided to take out the video card and just sell it later
then the computer gets an error upon startup "PLEASE RESTART AND SELECT THE PROPER BOOT DEVICE, OR INSERT BOOT MEDIA WITH PROPER BOOT DEVICE"
me, having no idea what this means, calls the help line for the manufacturer of the video card. I call technical support, who tell me I need HARDWARE support, but they give me a code that will get me on with a live agent. After writing down like 15 digits, I call back and go to hardware support, enter in my number they just gave me, and end up talking to some indian guy I can barely understand.
he asks me what operating system I have, I tell him windows 7. He then says that it might be a problem with windows 7 and not the video card. I tell him that it worked fine before I tried to put in the second card, and he tells me to call microsoft, giving me another 10 or 15 digit code.
THEN once I go through the automated menu in microsoft, I enter in my code again, and talk to a guy who asks me all this crap about windows 7. Then I have to find the box it came with and read off the authentication code on the box, as well as the one on the CD. They tell me that my warranty has run out and I cant get a new windows 7 CD. I tell him I don't need a windows 7 CD, my windows 7 works fine.
He then tells me to call the video card manufacturer....
I call back and enter the code I got way earlier so I could skip to the front of the queue, because otherwise the wait is 15 minutes. I end up talking to the SAME GUY who for some reason finally understands my problem this time.
Now, if you're still with me, this is the best part. After doing EXACTLY what he says, my computer wont even turn on. Luckily, my step brother who is a wiz at this sort of thing will be coming over Sunday anyway for father's day, he says he can take a look at it.
I'm posting this on my piece of crap laptop.
He seems like a nice guy from my experiences with him. He is a bit quiet though.[/]

Re: RAAGE
yes, upon further "investigation", I've noticed the power SW is unplugged -_-
it's a tiny and hardly noticeable plug, so I can see why I missed it. Now I just need to figure out where to plug it in....
He seems like a nice guy from my experiences with him. He is a bit quiet though.[/]
