Thread: ...your mom gets her email/facebook stolen.

Bear in mind the day this happened was my last day to sleep in for the next month the inceddent in question began shortly before 9am.

My mom was, until yesterday using the word soccer for a password. Needless to say I was not surprised when I got a call saying she couldn't log in. then I got this email:

I'm writing this with tears in my eyes, I came down here to London, United Kingdom for a short vacation unfortunately I was mugged at the park on my way to hotel where I stayed, all cash,credit card and cell were stolen off me but luckily for me I still have my passports with me.

I've been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all and my flight leaves in a couple of hours but am having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let me leave until i settle the bills.

I'm freaked out at the moment.I need urgent assistance.

Which was odd, cause she had just called my from her office a couple of miles away in Pasadena, plus she used to be a proofreader so that email was obviously a fake.

The plus side was that it was a paid email account so it only took 4 hours to take it back.

In that time we also had to shut down All western Union transfers in her name, lockdown a ymail account created with here email address, Lock her FB and so on.

Needless to say, she has a new password.

My mom got her email stolen as well. Same exact story to about being stuck in London.
