You can't ignore someone if they have any moderator powers anywhere (even clan forums), therefore it is useless for at least half of the miscreants who cause the problems.
It still leaves a massive "you can't see this because XYZ is on your ignore list" block in the thread.
There is nothing to prevent other people from quoting the ignored individual, or responding to him, or taking the thread in a new direction based on the ignored individual's posts.
Therefore, the ignore feature is useless and is effective sticking your e-fingers in your e-ears and shouting e-LALALA's to the e-heavens, even though you still have to read all of the stupid shit.
Fortunately, as a moderator, I have the ultimate "shut up, this conversation is over" button.
