iPhone 4 Arriving A Day Early: Apple's Way Of Messing With New Droid Launch?
We just got a email the new iphone will be here via fedex today!
Apple's new iPhone 4 is arriving to many pre-order customers a day early -- their orders are tentatively set to arrive tomorrow, June 23, instead of Thursday, June 24, we hear.
Is this Apple's way of messing with Verizon Wireless's, Motorola's, and Google's new Droid launch event, scheduled for Wednesday in New York?
Ordinarily, the gadget press would be focused on the new Droid event, but if their iPhones are all arriving a day early, they'll be distracted -- and will probably continue to focus their coverage on Apple's new phone, instead.
To be sure, perhaps this is a logistics situation, where there are simply too many new iPhones to be delivered in one day, so Apple is giving its shipping partners an early day of leeway. And recent events suggest Apple wouldn't toss the gadget press a bone if their life depended on it.
But at the very least, the ability to defuse a competitor's launch event must be a nice byproduct for Apple.
You cannot beat the resolution or the video phone mode.

Re: iPhone 4 Arriving A Day Early: Apple's Way Of Messing With New Droid Launch?
My friend has an iPhone 4 and he loves it too. My other friend with an HTC Evo4 loves that, and my other friend with a Nexus1 loves that, and my other friend with a Palm Pre even loves that.
People have a way of justifying their purchases. If I spend $200-400 on a phone I will defend my purchase to haters and those who question my wisdom.
That's human nature, haha.
That being said, I love my Palm Treo 755P. Free company phone = win. I like to play with my wife's iPhone 3G also.
Let's be honest...any smart phone that can get to Google while you're at a bar and win bets for you is an ample device.
One thing I dont like about what the iPhone 4 that I have heard is that you can only video chat over wifi, and only to other iPhone 4 devices...that's sort of lame and monopolistic. The video chat on WiFi only is evidence of Apple's lack of confidence in AT&T's network it would seem.

FaceTime using WiFi only is most definitely because of AT&T's network of shit. I can have full service and get dropped calls all the time. I usually have one or two drops a day, and I live in a city that really isn't that over crowded. We have had 3G here in knoxville for about 5 years now, but I've been stuck on edge for the past 2 since it's been down.
