I agree it is time for 2 refs on the pitch, and not just one. The action is too fast for one pair of eyes to catch everything. My main point being the topic was started to bash soccer players as cheaters, but it happens on virtually every play in virtually every sport, not just soccer.

As people have said their one main official but he has 2 assistants on the field as well, and all are in communication these days through the headset. The offside rule has been in the game for a longggg time, and I'd say from what I've read, this one seems better then most. the best players, can create breakaways. The only problem with the rules is due to the exceptions and such, it gets ****ing confusing at times.
The diving issue, as its been mentioned before also has a lot to do with the mentality of the country(ies). One I was listening to was talking about how diving is considering (basically) a sin in most of northern europe, while in South America it is just considered part of the game.
Also I think UEFA experimented with having 5 on the pitch, instead of 3 (well there are 4 and UEFA did 6, but i don't think the 4th/6th can do much), and don't remember it having much of an impact on the officiating.Last edited by Red_Lizard2; 07-06-10 at 04:30 PM.
