Previously, the fastest production supercar on the planet was the SSC Ultimate Aero, registering a top speed of 253.81 miles per hour.
With Bugatti test driver Pierre Henri Raphanel at the Super Sport’s helm on Volkswagen’s Ehra-Lessian high-speed oval on Saturday, the Ultimate Aero’s record received the ultimate thrashing.

Thats ok - you can't keep my SSC Aero TT in the dark for long. The next model out soon should be about 275 mph.

hmmm me thinks you could only do 250+ in a straight away, even F1 drivers would be hard pressed to do it in a turn. Also the Aero is about 1/3 the price of the veyron. Bugati needs to let The Stig drive one.
