Who quits then searches?

My girl is unhappy at her job and she said to me, "you know that movie American Beauty with Kevin Spacey? That's what I want to do. I'll go work at Walmart, I don't care."

She's been complaining about her job a lot but it frustrates me because it seems like she is going to take it out on the industry rather than her current employer. It's also frustrating because this is a girl with a 4 year degree from an Ivy League (Rice) and a Masters from UT. The 4 year was in finance, the masters was in advertising, she began her masters when she learned she didn't want to do finance, now she doesn't want to do advertising. WHO spends the money to get that kind of education only to decide later on they don't want to use it

Heh, it happens all the time. I know many people that got a degree then found out they hated the field once they got a job. It is well worth your time to get an internship in a field you are interested in early on before you spend a money on education. Even though it would be a lot of money essentially wasted I would support her in a career change. I make about 10-15% less than I could, but I look forward to going to work most days, and you can not put a price on that.
