I couldn't stand having driving automated.... For me, driving is very relaxing and takes my mind off of various things.

Me being one of the very few decent teenage drivers, I can understand idiocy of the people I am often ashamed to call my peers. Out doesn't matter how many consequences you say something will have, they will still do it because its "fun" and they think they are above the law. I say, if you are under the age of 20 and get a ticket or are in an accident of any kind, you are put in jail for the night.

Might levy some of the accident numbers.

Because that isn't why or how I play.

    Re: Everyone please drive safely

My daughter doesn't drive yet so i don't know if this will work. I should show her this and ask to see what her reaction is.

I believe years ago it might have worked. With the things young people are exposed to a lot have been desensitized thanks to the internet. Things that were shocking to see 15 years ago are not a big deal anymore.

Once again since a lot of these accidents happen before 18 I partly blame the parents. Most states have a graduated drivers license program. If an accident happens because a rule was violated most of the time it should fall on the parents.

    Re: Everyone please drive safely

Personally, I think anyone arrested for reckless or drunk driving should be sentenced to 80+ hours of community service in an emergency room in addition to whatever else gets levied their way. When I was in high school, I'd often run up and visit my dad while he was working as the chief emergency doctor at one of the two hospitals in town, and there were a couple times I happened to be there when an accident victim, or victims, would come in, and those sights haven't left my head for a minute ever since. My last accident was shortly after that (I was rear ended), and my last ticket was a year later for going 5 mph over the limit (70 in a 65). Since then, my driving record has been spotless, which I attribute in no small part to what I saw in those hospitals.

    Re: Everyone please drive safely

On most of California's freeways, the unacknowledged speed limit is about 75-80 mph (usually marked at 65 though). People slow down when they see the highway patrol, but he's usually going the same speed so people just keep pace with him if they seem him. Now picture people going 90-100+ mph, weaving in and out of traffic. I see it everyday going to and from work. It makes me angry because its those guys who are going to cause or get into accidents and they're not always the ones to pay the price. And then you've got the people who are behind you, and then move around to cut you off so they can get their exit or turn-off that much faster a second later...

or those people who throw themselves across 4 lanes of traffic so they dont miss their exit. Not like there wont be another one 1 mile further.
