    I guess you would need to ask the question is being blind a poor enough quality of life to warrant death? I would choose to live blind over dying. In the case of a dog, he would be able to adjust. He would just need some compassion from his owner to ease him through the transition. If you don't have the time to help him, then you should probably consider the other option.

    Personally, I wouldn't give you advice on what to do. If you love him, you will make the correct decision for him either way. It is a very hard thing, my father was absolutely devastated when we had to put down his dog that he also knew for only about half its life, and this is for a dog we all nicknamed "stupid" (and my father was the first one to call her stupid regularly, too).
