Flying bits of blown out tire!

So I was driving my roommate to work and while going down the highway I see a giant piece of tire flying through the air. Apparently someone ran it over and sent it flying, since I was blocked on both sides I just watched as it rocketed towards my car. It made contact, and somehow my car survived, but poor Bertha had the driver's side view mirror pop out. So I still have the hardware but no mirror . Now when I'm trying to drive, instead of looking for cars to my left I feel like I'm staring into some black hole.

Some auto parts stores sell a plastic mirror thats less than $20, normally they have the right size but some car models you buy one size and cut to fit. I had to do this for my truck, some one hit my mirror while my truck was parked. I put glass in first but the adhesive didnt hold to well, good double sided foam tape is the trick!

Salvage yard will probably have the mirror you need. Pop it out and epoxy it back onto yours.

Yeah, those chunks can be dangerous. I've had one put a small crack in my windshield before, and last month I drove over a piece of tread and saw it go flying behind me. Fortunately there was no one close behind so it didn't hit anyone, but man that thing went flying. It'd be way worse if you were riding a motorcycle too.

Yeah, I couldn't find a piece that would fit properly so I have to go to the salvage yard and find a new mirror. I'm hoping that it should be fairly easy to find a 90 Lesabre mirror... although mine is all automatic and I"m not sure if that will make a difference on the connections if I get a manual. As long as it fits, i don't give a hoot.
