Thread: when it's just impossible to win without cheating

I just decided to play at some old game: Ages of Empires 2 with its expansion, and do all the campains without cheating. I play at medium difficulty. I've manage to finish all the maps, yelling at some points with barbarossa, killing somes 900 enemy soldiers in the catalaunian plains until I finally stop my progress in valencia with the Cid campain fith scenario.AHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, i'm gonna smash my head on my keyboard. It will be my 9 restar or something like that, its just impossible. Just to explain for those who knows what the game is about, the scenario starts with one soldier, the cid, who has to go and get a new town to live. alright thats not so difficult, there is only 3 swordmen to defeat. you get in your new small town to realise that you have 4 workers and 8 infantry(feodal age level) with small ressources, no forum, no woods and no woodcutting camp. at this point you're thinking : thats gonna be interesting(it means : I'm just in a catastrophic situation, f*ck, if someone attacks i'm dead). 1,30 min later, hum what's that? they tell me to run away, why? why would i run? ....eh, run workers, run. there is 10 knights comming with 6 mangonels, 2 trebuchets and 6 rams. they then, ask me to go in valencia. getting there your army(9 soldiers and 4 workers) is joined
with 2monks, 4 workers and 3 camels (castle age). thinking: ok that's alright. you get in valencia.

The situation
you have to defend a wonder that is being build
no wood, few ressources
your army( 12 soldiers) because you met some resistance
20 sheeps near you forums

enemies
12 bowyers around your wonder
3 canon towers, 2 meters away from you wonders
your little friends from the first town at you tail
cavalry spread around valencia

(thinking: were gonna have fun)

you manage with what you have to destroy the first strikes forces(trebuchets....) and the bowiers
at this point you have no ressources and an army of 5 men
your still at castle age with no buildings and no technologies
looking at the unfriendly cavalry around, you understand that your enemy is now at the imperial age.

(thinking: yay! :s)

2 secs later ; second strike force comming

8 paladins, 2 cannons, 6 champions, 6 rams, 4 mangonels
(f*uck)

if anyhow you manage to protect your wonder, congratz, if not, well...try again : )

while you were trying to manage your way with the second strike force, you enemy build some new forces

2 mins laters, at your door, 6 cannons, 3 trebuchets, 4 rams....(heavy artillery force) supported with heavy infantry and heavy cavalry, the cannon towers are still up...
