That hit on Selanne is brutal, but Kronwall was hardly moving, played the puck, and Selanne skated right into him face to face, making no real effort to stop, avoid him, bring his shoulder to bear, or even an arm up in time. Selanne basically initiated contact.

Hit to the head yes, but Selanne was 100% fucking retarded right there. Doesn't fall under the new rules, as it's in NO way lateral or blindside.

I don't even know what to make of it. Serious possibility of injury, and I hate to see players get hit like that, but it's a rare situation.

Still a hit to the head in which the NHL "says" they want to get rid of. You either call and suspend every hit that involves the head or don't call any of them. The whole blindside/lateral ect shit is not helping anything....
Add it the the list of issues in the NHL.

Cole's hit looked more like an accidental collision where he braced for the hit to protect himself, sucks because I'm a huge Doughty fan.

Kronwall is one of those guys who can't hit unless the other player is vulnerable or isn't expecting it, I'd love to see someone knock him out in a fight. If you want to play like that, learn to fight.
