Re: So.. I was just curious...
My mom has 2 as well bubba and daisy. Both are loving little bastards. Both being recent resues there is only one issue that has to be resolved. The blue nose is aggresive when rawhides are around. Considering the condition they were both in 4 months ago when she got them thats not to bad.

Re: So.. I was just curious...
Yes and no and yes and no. My background on saying this is working for a number of years at a Humane Society and experiencing a lot of different animals.
Pit bulls are unfortunately often bred for aggression. A lot of those people who don't neuter their pit bulls is because they want and encourage that aggression that having balls means. And those are the ones who have puppies because their moronic owners think it's great to let their dogs fuck and then basically abandon the puppies (sell them on the side of the road or whatever).
So you get what you pay for, as with all dogs. If you get a pit bull form a real breeder who has selected them for intelligence and even temperament, and spent the time to socialize and care for the puppies then you are going to get a great dog. If you buy a puppy from the side of the road you are going to get a total unknown, it could be sweet or it could be a monster.
So unfortunately the entire breed gets painted as aggressive and nasty because of the high prevalence of assholes doing backyard breeding and creating monsters. So consequently you end up with a lot of attacks by pit bulls because they aren't socialized properly or are encouraged to be territorial and aggressive.

All that said, pretty much any breed can be made vicious and mean by their treatment/breeding/early life. Some of the meanest dogs we had to deal with were the ones you would probably least expect, the pomeranians who had been treated like expensive fashion accessories, or the 4 chihuahuas who had been forced to fight over their food every night....
Some pet owners should burn in fucking hell for the shit they do to their animals. Seriously, some of the shit I saw was utterly gut wrenching.
